Profile

Johana is a first-year MA student in the Writing, Rhetoric, and Cultural Studies program. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky, where she double-majored in Writing, Rhetoric, and Digital Studies as well as Spanish. Her professional experience includes a strong foundation in social media marketing within the startup world, particularly in the context of tech accelerators and incubators. Additionally, she has as five years of knowledge in first-time freshman (FTFR) undergraduate admissions/recruitment. These experiences have significantly shaped her research interests and approaches. Moreso, she is particularly drawn to exploring the intersections of cultural rhetorics, bilingualism, and how digital and visual media are used to construct and challenge stereotypes, especially within the context of marginalized communities.
