Research Areas

Urban & transportation planning, user-centered design & composition, technical communication, deliberative rhetoric


Jack is interested in exploring transportation and urban planning processes, especially in regards to citizen participation and engagement. He also researches the role of user-centered design as a framework and point of inquiry for writing pedagogy. He has taught professional writing and composition at Michigan State University and St. Cloud State University. Prior to MSU, he worked as an instructional designer in the medical informatics industry and taught English in Sendai, Japan.
