2012-2013 Teaching Positions in First-Year Writing

Graduate students in Rhetoric & Writing, English, and AAAS who have already been awarded graduate assistantships by their programs may indicate a preference from among the following opportunities for the 2012–2013 academic year.

Please note that people with no prior teaching experience in WRAC’s First-Year Writing Program will be assigned to teach WRA 150.

WRA 1004/0102 Preparation for College Writing (all sections meet 3 days/week)

WRA 110 Writing: Science & Technology (scheduled in a computer lab for both days/week)

WRA 110 Writing: Science & Technology (scheduled as a hybrid course meeting f2f one day/week)

WRA 115 Writing: Law & Justice in the U.S.

WRA 125 Writing: American Ethnic & Racial Experience

WRA 130 Writing: American Radical Thought

WRA 135 Writing: Public Life in America (a service-learning course)

WRA 140 Writing: Women in America

WRA 145 Writing: Men in America

WRA 150 Writing: Evolution of American Thought

Information about mentoring and professional development for GTAs will be provided in letters of appointment (expected date of receipt for returning GTAs is April 6). Or you may contact the director of the First-Year Writing Program, Prof. Julie Lindquist.

2012-2013 Teaching Positions in the Professional Writing Program and in English

Graduate students in Rhetoric & Writing may apply to teach one of the following:

WRA 202 Introduction to Professional Writing

WRA 210 Introduction to Web Authoring

ENG 232 Writing as Exploration (2 sections per semester)

To apply to teach WRA 202 or WRA 210, send a cover letter and c.v., discussing coursework, work experience, publications, or research interests to the Director of the Professional Writing Program, WRAC, 235 Bessey, by March 15, 2012.

To apply to teach ENG 232, send the same materials to the Director of the Rhetoric & Writing Program, WRAC, 235 Bessey, by March 15, 2012.

There are a limited number of positions for graduate students with prior experience teaching in WRAC’s First-Year Writing Program.
